Well.......................... things went well!
The nurses and radiologists and doctors were GREAT!I didnt expect to have that many people in the room at once.. 2 nurses for Tobi (to help position him and keep him still, 2 doctors, a radiologist and I think an xray tech. There were toys for him to play with, and they were all singing 'who are the ppl in your neighbourhood, in your neighbout hood, oh who are the ppl in your neighbourhood, their the ppl that you meet each day!) from sesamestreet.. they all were soo cherry and happy! The 'procedure' was well...uncomfortable I think. they placeda catheter up his rectum and then taped his cheeks together. (he was NOT fond of that part at all)... then they hung a HUGE bag of the barium (cept it wasnt barium, it was something else,, i dunno). As they infused it, they do a live feed and tape it so they can see the liquid fill his intestines. I only saw it a few times cuz i was entertaining the lil man. they took pics of him on his side and on his back etc. then after they were done, they drained what came out freely (i couldnt beieve how much stuff goes up.. probably like a litre it looked to be)then we waited for him to poop out the rest...
heres where we had an issue. he didnt poop it out. he was so crampy, screaming and crying, and pulling his legs up.. didnt want anything.. SO the Doc had to get him to take a laxative to get him to 'go'. Well it worked TOO well... on the way home, he pooped and it went everywhere... DH met us at the subway station, and when we got home we discovered he pooped (only the liquid stuff) everywhere, it came out the side of his diaper down his legs and onto my car and his carseat! yumm!!!!!!!!!he is doing fine now...
he was such a lil trooper. and let me tell you.... I am so blessed to have just gone through this, there are some parents facing MUCH worse with terminally ill children.. it was heartbreaking... this one lil gir (4) was showing me all of her bravery beeds from chemo and radiation and bonemarrow and all the procedures she went throuh... such a brave courageous little soul.. poor thing.. but she was so happy.... made me smile.. i just love her and I dont know her.
Hubbydidnt get to come, but there was only 1 parent allowed in anyways, so it really wouldnt have mattered... all in all it was a good day! we should get the results next wednesday.. send your hopes for the best!!!!
